Friday we dipped chocolates

In the afternoon, Felix thought "Bampa's" hat was pretty cool.

After  Ken came home, we headed over to Sarah's for pizza and making chocolate Christmas candy.  Somewhere along the line, this became a Moffett Christmas tradition.

Some of us hang around and chat while others melt the chocolate and dip things in it.  It used to be a two-person op., while our kids played and, eventually, learned to participate, but who wants to be left out of chocolate dipping.  The old standards are marshmallows, toasted coconut, pretzels and the coveted marachino cherries with stems.  We've learned that some things are just as good in the commercial form like peanuts and raisins, but we try new things.
Carrie brought dried apricots, and Peder and Ken dried some blueberries this year.  Very interesting.

One year, we left coated marshmallows in the cold attic on the cookie sheet, not packed up.  They kept disappearing really fast over a few days and I remarked about it to Ken.  It wasn't him, he said.  One day when I went in the attic for something else, I discovered a marshmallow stuck in a knothole in the floor boards.  Imagine the light dawning on my face.
All have to be packed up in tins to keep them safe and fresh.
