My painting has been in fits and starts lately and I've attained some books on watercolors that are both inspiring and intimidating. Life is full of ups and downs: painting isn't any different. So, the stand of trees is a simple experiment from Nancy Tichborne's book and the leaves in a circle are a piece that's suffered from overwork, but I'm using it to practice and make my mistakes trying to get shadows to work.
I love Nancy's work and she says she's a tonal painter. She says thats what makes her paintings lifelike. That certainly isn't my strength, but I'm slowly learning some things from her.
