Reading yesterday's post, I realized how much I take for granted. This holiday is for celebrating the triumph of the rights of people to freedom and equal treatment, and (probably because I don't know of any slaves in my ancestry) I just take those rights for granted. Today, I'm more aware how lucky we are and how easily we could lose our independence and freedom... if we take it for granted.
