We had a very low key day. It felt good to not worry about stuff. Ken had planned to have ribs for supper and I volunteered to make deviled eggs to go with them as a Labor Day treat. We both love them and they disappeared like cotton candy. It's getting to be fun working in our new kitchen now... finally.
Early in the afternoon we went out to The Container Store for some internal parts for our new cabinets. So, now we have plates and glasses in the kitchen. The other parts have to be assembled.
And in between, our old friend, Jim Ayers, came over to show us how a system that Ken helped get started (with his amazing equipment design skills) has evolved into something called Face to Face. It's a tool Jim's developed to assess how accurately people discern different aspects, such as confidence, confusion, or comfort, and how often it matches what the other guy is sensing, in an interactive relationship experience. I enjoyed seeing what Jim is doing and it could help make the world a better place in a lot of ways, notably leadership skills and healing from emotional disturbances.
It was a good day, played by ear, and maybe that's what this holiday is about - getting a day of freedom after all the days of discipline and routine the rest of the year. And a few deviled eggs in the picture.
