| After (stent in place) |
Ken's been feeling a little poorly for awhile and he finally took himself to see his wonderful people at the Veteran's hospital instead of going to work on Monday.
It was a really, really good thing!
These are pictures of a major artery to his heart. When he went in, they quickly decided to admit him and do some tests. The first clue was a slightly elevated enzyme in his blood. Things quickly moved to doing a heart catheterization where they put in a stent to open up this nearly occluded artery in the before picture (the really skinny place just inside the shadow on the x-ray). I think he averted a major heart attack. The amazing thing to me was that the surgery took about three hours and he was home the next day, a little sore, but with so much more energy. (He had actually predicted what was wrong, but didn't want to face it.)
