Summer Solstice

In the world of astrology, there is a lot going on with the energy of the planets and positioning. I certainly don't understand it all, but a friend explained to me that when two planets are "squared", it is a time for old things that aren't working to change. So, in my writing class yesterday, we were talking about the solstice and that at one time, people believed that the sun stopped, or the world stopped on this important day. As we talked about TIME stopping, my mind began making big leaps and this poem is what came out of that.
 TIME SOLSTICE
 What if stopped-time is simply
Being present,
 In the moment,
In touch with our senses.

Do not go there unless
You’re prepared to lose yourself.
 Does the sun lose itself
In the solstice moment?
Does the world?
Who’s in charge here?
No matter, It’s been happening for a long time.

Would we disturb the pattern
By trying to observe
The solstice, the losing of self
That we ---imagine?

What if we did?
Maybe the Universe
Has been patiently waiting for a change; a shift, a disturbance
And we… are holding it off,
Refusing to co-operate,
To follow our curious nature.
Maybe curiosity is a friend of time,
And we, with our great and powerful minds,
are holding it hostage.
